This year The Alex R Millar IOG Professional Football Groundsman of the Year Competition is open to the winners (who will automatically be entered) of the following Football Association Groundsman of the Year Competition categories:
The Premiership League
Championship
League 1
League 2
Scottish League winner
The judges for this award will assess the winners to judge how they manage the pitch(es) under their control.
Judging will take place in late September at a date and time to be mutually agreed with the finalists. Groundsmen may wish to consider planning a programme for the judge’s visit, together with any reports. Judging will be carried out under the following areas:
- Resources available
- Budget control
- Effective use of resources
- Maintenance & use of machinery
- Presentation & housekeeping Standards
- Technical knowledge
- Scale of operations
- Management of Health and Safety
- Management of compromise
- Sustainability
- Levels of pitch usage during the playing season, plus any other functions
- Any alterations to the grounds made by the individual
- Communication
- Record keeping
- Community involvement
